Thinking about selling my UCF10
I'm going to sell my '91 LS400 soon. It has 200xxx miles but it runs sooo smooth. I'm the second owner, I bought the car off of my uncle and he always serviced it at Ray Catena Lexus. I'm trying to gauge how much I can get for the car so help me out guys! Since I bought it, I have changed all the air struts to a shock and spring setup (I still have the air struts), front upper control arms, front sway bar end links, power steering pump, thermostat, coolant reservoir, replaced all door speakers, and a recent A/C recharge. The bad: LCD display is out, needs two rear tires and 2nd gear and O/D transmission solenoids replaced (I will do the tires and tranny if I don't sell it quickly). Here are some pics, tell me what you guys think.

where i live, modified cars are really hard to sell. even something as a muffler, can cause a buyer to walk away.
the problem you may run into, since you modified the car, it nows caters to a certain group of people.
the general public wont care, all they will see is "oh, you mean it's not stock?"
and one more thing, the general buying public wont care how much you spent, just only that certain components were done, and how long ago.
not trying to sound mean or anything, its just a heads-up kinda deal.
best of luck to you selling the car.
and I sense seller's remorse coming along

airbag to coil-over...is a mod
and I left out replying about the "bad" stuff on purpose.
cracking driver seat,......the horrendous floor mats, the dirty driver's footwell.......the 5 tone interior......the 2 dents on the rear drivers door........the sagging passenger door mirror.....the rear bumber scratches ....the black brake fluid, the empty overflow, not to mention the leaking o-ring on the level sensor......
the missing bolt from the very front cover....in front of the intake plennum....
thats just what I see.....i cant even see the bottom of the car !
ha-ha.....whatever

The engine bay does look..... old. A dirty engine bay is a sign of neglect. Maybe I'm weird but if I see rusted screw and bolt heads I'll walk away from buying it.

And by the way, some of those things are bound to happen when a car is twenty years old and is parked in the city... I mean I've never seen a 20 year old car without a cracked driver's seat but that's just me...

and emarknot, to be honest with you id rather have my flawed exterior and 5 tone interior than the awful color combo on your car, just a personal opinion.

It all depends on the area you live for how much you can get for it. And like you said, it is a 20 yr old car. With the problems it has ( LCD screen, tires, tranny) I'd say you can get about $1200, maybe. Personally, I wouldn't buy a car that's always parked on the street. If you tell a prospective buyer the tranny just needs a couple solinoids they might just walk away. I mean, most people who don't do thier own work don't even know what a solinoid is so they would think it needs a new tranny. Fix those and you might get $1500. I bought mine from NY (Long Island) and thier were literally hundreds of these for sale in NY so they are very common in your area. Idk how close you are but there are 2 for sale in the Brooklyn area for $15-1800 and they're in better condition. Fix everything that's wrong and get it detailed and you'll get more.

There's no need for this. That's just being an ***, I doubt he actually cares about your opinion on his car anyway, he didn't ask for it. You asked for our opinion on how much you can get for the car, he just pointed out ALL the things that a buyer would see when they came to look at it. Hell, if someone told me all that stuff I'd be happy. Then I'd know what needs to be fixed to sell it for more. I drive my car every day and think it's in pretty damn good shape, but if someone else looked at it and took it for a ride they would notice the things that are wrong. That's a good thing. If you can't handle the criticism, good and bad, don't ask for it.
