Tire Choices

I like the quiet ride of my LS. I also like to be confident that my tires will take 150mph and have enough stick to stop and turn in the wet or dry. Michelin has a new tire out its call "Energy MXV4-A Plus". It is a V rated high performance touring tire with a 400 tread wear rating and an A traction and an A temp rating. While not the highest griping tire it is still quite good and very quiet according to Michelin and a Survey at Tire Rack that actual users responded to. Anyone running these tires? Anyone have another suggestion? See the survey at: http://www.tirerack.com/tires/surveyresults/gt.jsp

Tires for LS
Tire Rack's top choice In Gran Touring in all depts. is Bridgestone Teranza Revo. Z rated.
I had these specialed on a now 500 plus mile new LS430. Very early to really report but
so far the Tire Rack Survey is right on in all reported areas of this tire.. Good grip and
low, low noise. 17" chromes.
My GS4 has 20,000 on Michelin Pilot Sports now two years old and they are getting hard.
I'll not repeat with these. Very rough on several round trips from Pasadena CA to
Scottsdale AZ.

Tire Racks survey for the Bridgestones Turanza Evo Z look great but with only 95000 miles total it is a small sampling. The 240 wear rating seems low but they claim 40000. They are looking strong.

Stephen, Tire Rack lists both the SP Sport 4000s and the SP Sport 5000s. The 5000s look like the way to go. The size I intend to get is the stock 225/60WR16. These tires sound great, look good and are ONLY $88each...what a deal. And YES I did say WRs, that is a speed rating of up to 168mph. As you know VRs are up to 149, ZRs are above 149 but the 2 new ratings include WRs up to 168 and YRs up to 186mph.

jbrady: Right, the Teranza Revos have little history and at 240 I'm sure a
shorter life. Other factors being reportedly outstanding, I'm willing to trade.
Easy to say now but safe and very, very high speed min. noise level makes
my long trips less of a grind. (sorry)
