I got my 04-06' LS430 chrome 17's for $100. It was worth the 4hr drive to Seattle so I could rock chrome 17's for winter w/Pirelli's.

I haven't seen much here in NC. I do have one guy locally who has offered the 5 spoke 18's (non chrome, which is good), for $350...but he said the finish isn't great on them - like the previous owner used harsh abrasive cleaners or something.

As much as I like the look of the 5 spoke 18, I really think the 6 spoke 17 would be the best compromise for me.

I put the 17" 430 wheels on within a couple of weeks of buying the car...so I can't truly comment on the ride but I'd imagine the ride is slightly stiffer with the 17s...but the look is worth it. The stock wheels date the car in my opinion. I didn't love the chrome 17s at first but I've warmed up to them. It's really the only mod I planned to do other than throwing a 40%-50% tint all the way around...but getting to that.
THIS is what would be ideal for me. Where do you find decent used tires??

I dig the silver wheels over the chrome. I'm hoping to score a set as backups.

Over time the Toyota/Lexus chrome usually peels or flakes off. This is the case with my set but luckily none of it is on the face. At $25 a rim I loaded them into the trunk & asked no questions.

Oh, on my iphone your wheels looked like they were silver. Looks good though. I guess it just helps to see them on someone else's car. We've got the same set up. The chrome is peeling on mine too...on the bottom portion of the inner rim. Not too bad and isn't noticeable unless you're up close and looking for it. Did you have your LS long before going to the 17s? What is your opinion on quality of ride with the 17s? I swapped to 17s a couple of weeks after getting the car. The ride is still plush but it can at time be jarring over bumps and what not. But I think that has more to do with my car needing some new suspension components like the strut rod bushings, etc.

The one bad side with chrome plating, any damage and that spot over time has a high probability of flaking off and growing.

I was rolling on stock 16's for 3 months. I'm running 225/50 which I think is 2.9% smaller in diameter. I would say the ride is slighty harsher but I too need to replace my strut rod bushings. I'll have them installed soon. If I had 55 series tires Id assume the ride might be a bit better. The visual appeal of the 17 is enough to forget the plushness of stock 60 series 16's.

On stock 16's from 225/60 down to a 225/50 is about a 7% difference, 26.7" down to 24.9" diameter. Speedo error at indicated 60 is 56MPH.

Are you gonna install the strut rod bushings yourself or have them done? I just got a quote of $434 OEM parts and labor. Trying to get an idea if that's a good deal or not. They said that the strut rods have to be removed and the bushing pressed out...hence the labor heavy job.

that's one way, but parts that way are a grand total of $80. for both.

brand new rods with bushings are ~$120-130/each, which require no pressing.
