Does the LS400 have an Intrusive or a Non-Intrusive engine???

I have heard (stressing heard) that 1st gen Lexus V8s (1990-1994) are non-interference. If true (big if) then the cam timing belt can break and the valves would not hit the pistons. I would imagine your intention is to not spend the cash on a timing belt replacement. I would suggest you reconsider. Unless you personally know someone that has ACTUALLY confirmed that the engine is none-interference... I would NOT trust even a Lexus tech to give me correct information. This is one of those "gottaseeitformyself" deals. A 10-1 compression engine that is NI is hard to imagine. Don't forget to replace the water pump also as it has to come off anyway.

BTW, you didn't ask and probably do not care but I can tell you from personal experience that a 1990 Infiniti Q45 is DEFINITELY intereference. Factory long block is $11,000.
