It isn't, buying the new one is. Keeping the old one is the wise choice because buying the new one would waste a lot of money for a nominal gain.

I also have an LS 400 - 99 with 75K miles in pristine condition, that I've owned for 6 years. It's probably my all time favorite car.
I looked for the absolute nicest 06 430 for about a year here in FL and finally found and bought a near perfect 28K mile car. I decided to keep the 400 and sure glad I did. The 430 is really a wonderful car but the simplicity and better ride of the 400 have me considering selling the 430.
