Default A/C blower fix

Well after years of looking through CL threads, I finally can contribute! My climate blower stopped working of a year ago and never had a chance to tackle it until yesterday. Started with the fan speed going in and out especially over bumps. Sometimes hitting the dash board to start it but wouldnt last long or only at higher speeds. The only way to get a/c or heat is to be moving and with the fresh air selected.

Yesterday I got motivated to look and see if maybe there was anything stuck in the way. I started at 6:30pm and was racing against the daylight savings time so sorry no picscry:. Pulled out the glovebox and started to dismantle the connections. Before dropping the fan out of the bottom I decided to mess with the fan and it would surge and bump. So it was still alive! After dropping the fan out I turn it on in my hand and nothing...until I turned it upside down! Upside down it functioned. I decided to take the fan out of the sleeve that it sits in and removed the fan blade to expose the axles on both ends and ran it again. I noticed that there was a broken rubber washer on the fan side. The broken washer made it difficult for the fan to run or not at all.

Replaced the washer with one similar, like for a faucet. Lubed both axles with bearing grease (I saw traces of lubrication initially and kind of dried up) and put everything back together. Testing the fan as I worked backwards. Everything is back to normal thank God because its supposed to be 99 degrees today! Hope this helps someone.
