Default Harsh shifting some times, -94 LS400

Hallo. The car shifts kind of harsh from second to third gear and from third to fourth to. But some times it's fine. And it always shift smooth from first to second gear. This harsh shifts do not occurs when the transmission fluid is cold. When the harsh shifting occurs it feels like when you drive a manual car and miss to sync the release of the clutch and giving gas. The gear change itself is fast and it is no slippage. When the car shifts from first to second it's obvious that the ignition is cut to make a smoother gear change but when the harsh shifting occurs it's like the ignition is not cut. But it's hard to tell.

Anybody who has any idea what can be wrong, or is this normal for a seventeen year old car with 370000 kilometers on the odometer and I'm just picky? It's not that harsh. Had the transmission fluid changed after I bought the car and again less then a year ago. At the last change I had the filter cleaned to. The transmission fluid has always looked good. After the last fluid change the shifting got better but know it's feels like before the change. I also had the transmission mount changed two years ago.

I'm thinking about getting another fluid change, or maybe a flush. But the Lexus workshop I'm using doesn't seem to wanna flush the transmission. I'm also thinking about getting the filter changed this time and also get the shifter solenoids cleaned. Any thoughts about this? And as a mention earlier, the car has done many kilometers and I don't think the differential bushings has been changed so maybe it's a good idea to has them changed to? I guess the bushings are on position 41651 and 41651A on the picture below.

I have no trouble codes. Has had this somewhat annoying problem since a got the car three years ago.

Thanks in advance!
/Joel

There is a cable connecting the throttle linkage to the transmission which if not correctly adjusted will give harsh shifts but this normally occurs in all gear changes but could be worth checking before spending money begins.
Also have you checked your motor and transmission mounts?

During gear shifts the ignition is not cut but the throttle is reduced to make smoother shifts.

If I remember correctly, engine timing is automatically retarded during a shift when the shift mode selector is in the normal mode to make gear changes smoother. Engine timing is not retarded or is less retarded during a shift when the shift mode selector is in Power mode.

Forget to mention that the cable connecting to the transmission is controlled and properly adjusted. The same goes for the throttle cable and the throttle position sensors. And as I mention, the transmission mount was changed two years ago so it should be ok. Haven’t have the engine mounts checked but they seem ok. Have no vibration and so on. Have also done the test when you stand on the brake and give gas and I have no clunks. But it’s not a bad idea to have them professionally checked out. Any other ideas?

Has talked to a transmission expert now and according to him the valve body is starting to worn. So the valve body has to be changed. He will come back with a price for this. I will let you know when I have more information according this.

not sure about pricing out there but you can get a trans for a 1LS in the US used for <200USD, low mileage for ~300-350USD

add 30-40% if buying from a yard and not a private seller.
