Angry Help-anyone!!!

Ok Guys... my car is dead....help!!!!

1996 LS400 68k.......I get in the car and turn it over....almosts starts and then quits.........when I go to turn over nothing but a machine gun sound (I think starter) and the dash is flipping out -- flickering and the gas gauge is going between 3/4 and empty up and down by itself.

Car still won't start and wondering if anyone knows what is going on!!!

THANKS

I got the same experience just like u, first, I thoguht was the battery failure however the main cause was the starter, had replaced it under the warranty.

My battery just went out last month and it was acting flaky (lights dimming when I hit the brake, for example), then it made the clicking sound at startup. Most places that sell a lot of batteries (here it is Pep Boys, Advance Auto Parts, Wal-Mart) have a machine that will quickly check the battery, starter and alternator for you for free. I would let them check it out, or you could always have the dealer do it for you, but I doubt it will be free.

Good Luck,

GA400

Same thing happen to me when I had my 91. Try replacing your battery before doing anything else.

Good luck

Simple test,

Turn on your headlights.
Start the car, the lights will dim
but it really should not go out.
If it does, the battery is dead.
