ucf10 problem, urgent.
Ok so heres the story. I own a 92 with 219,xxx KM. Only mods are, wheels, air suspension, and bodykit.
Everything has been fine until 20minutes ago. I went to start up the car, and all my dashlights turned on except for check engine light. So i started driving hoping it would turn off. I got to the gas station, filled up and started it again. It seemed like it had a bit of trouble starting up.
Now, the motor will rev up and down from 1-2k rpm by itself. All my lights except CEL is on. Radio wont turn on, headlights don't work, seems like a lost half my power steering. Lost power to telescopic steering. Their is also a funny smell around the abs module(beside the power steering reservoir), kind of like burning plasic.
My question is, has anyone had any of these problems? And where should i start checking?
Thanks

Did your alternator go out? It sounds like you're losing power, and I mean electrical. quick test would be to remove the neg terminal from your battery while its running, if it dies, your alternator is out.

Hm ok, i just searched for a bit. It is most likely power steering fluid dripping onto the alternator and fried it. Looks like i have to look into the powersteering leak now.

Pole Position
This is what happened with my alt. when it died, except all my dash lights didn't come on until I ran the battery down to nothing while driving. Then I'd change to a fully charged battery so I could finish driving home. The smell I had (like yours) was the PS fluid spraying onto the exhaust. Get that PS leak fixed before you change an alternator and fry the new one.
