I haven't been on the forum dued to my car got damaged in a wreck. I bought a S420 Mercedes. Here it's what I find about the two stacking up against each other.
The ls is a much smoother car
The ls is still quieter , even though mercedes has double glazed window super thick
The ls accelerate much faster and it does it like a mouse ,speedy gonzales style ultra fast and quiet ,smooth .
The benz has more room , more junk feature that is useless, but its there to amuse me.
The benz is more stable at very high speed, which I don't care to go that fast.
The ls more reliable, the benz already died on me which the fuel gauge lied to me. I really had less gas than I expect.
The benz has a outdated look interior and exterior but it's still more reliable than the 2000 up s class wow . This is funny because the w140 is not even reliable also confused.
The benz, all of the special gadget seems to want to work, when it wants to and it also has vacation days when it doesn't want to work if your life depends on it .
The cost of ownership is not cheap at all ,it's a s class
At the end of the day , give me a ls400 98 or newer I will be happy.
Not to bashed on mercedes but it's got nothing but the name

in the last week, I have worked on a mecredes e320 and a c420.

not going to say anything about the e-class.
the c-420 was a nice car. it was a 94 and seemed outdated by my 91. it was kinda quiet, but the seats were uncomfortable. and I still prefer my ls.

the s600 has been a long time fav of mine, and it still doesnt really compare to the ls. and with a sticker shock of $130-$150 k for a s600 back in the day......its really nothing more than a high price name.
and mercedes have always been known to be tempermental.

they are nice cars for sure, but not really up to the hype.
