Default Did my first seafoam on my '91 LS400

Just used it in fuel first......didn't notice a difference but I'm sure it's doing a good job of cleaning the injectors.

Then I used it in the crankcase, drove the car for 2 days, got an oil change and WHAMMO. Better throttle response, better power, feels smoother, and sounds smoother. I am very happy with the results.

Next I have to put it in the brake booster line, although I'm not at all mechanical so I'm a little worried about taking a house out and putting back together.

It's just one hose you have to take out. Pour the seafoam in a styrofoam cup (or whatever cup you have) and let the brake booster line "sip" the seafoam in. If you dunk it in, the engine will be flooded and you might damage something.

I've always been paranoid about using combustion chamber cleaners like this on high-mileage engines because a lot of times the carbon buildup is actually holding things together and preventing blow-by. How many miles are on your LS400? This is definitely promising though, I have yet to see someone say anything bad about the SeaFoam stuff.

I ran a tank through my 95 last week and noticed a smoother idle, response and acceleration. I have 175k miles and the next time I change my oil I will add it to the crank case. I did see that you could run it through the PS and AT systems but I won't do this since I have changed the fluids regularly. It says it is 100% safe though so I look forward to your replies on how it worked.

How do you go about adding this to the crankcase?

I would only drive for 10 miles it evaporates once the engine gets to normal operation temp. So running it longer is a waste as well as it has just broken down the properties that make oil good as well as the sludge.
Pour in the engine cold and drive to get a coffee and come back then change your oil and beverage to a beer and you are done.
Leaving it longer is not going to clean the engine better after the first 10 minutes.

Thanks for all the responses.

I hope this doesn't sound like a dumb question. Do I have the car running when I do this?

yes.

make sure u add the fluid in pretty slowly, otherwise u could possible hydrolock the engine rendering it useless. IIRC, Seafoam reccomends to put ur thumb over the bottle's opening and SLOWLY pour it directly into the vacuum line.

Thanks Drifter. You guys make everything sound so easy.

Should I get an oil change after this is done?

Change spark plugs?

oil change is a definite necesity.

spark plugs not so much, either just pull ur old ones out and clean them or buy the cheapest autozone plugs u can get htat fit and swap them before u put it into the intake, and swap back afterwards.
