Default Exhaust questions (cats + 'GS' sound)

Couple questions...

First, what is recommended for a replacement for the catalysts? Can I find stock OEM cats somewhere? (maybe Steve) Or is it an option to go high flow aftermarket..My concern are emissions and keeping them at a passing level.

Second, currently with 2.5" piping and 2 removed resonators my LS has that growl that some of the GS's have with aftermarket exhausts, except it's barely audible and only at low RPMs. Just revving the engine dosn't make any sound except when the RPM's drop back down under 2k.

Does anyone know if removing the centor resonator (past the cats) will keep the same growl but extend the sound to a wider RPM range? Or do I have to change the mufflers. I want that Greddy PE sound without the hefty price tag.
