Do you just keep in DRIVE or 4th GEAR. Or do you guys GATE SHIFT through the gears?

I have bad brakes so I usually slow down by turning off OD then shift down to 2nd. When turning I also go down to 2nd just so I have quicker take off speed coming out of the corner. Probably would sound better if I had different exhaust.

Why not fix your brakes?

Cash flow, unemployed for 17 months now. I only drive about 10 - 15 miles a week anyway until I do go back to work, then it will be about 180 miles a day. Then the brakes get fixed.

i shift through most of the time (gated) because i want to.

matching revs on the downshifts (as close to that as possible on a slushbox) helps.

Lots of discussion about manually shifting the auto and it is like the oil threads. It varies. IME, rev it past the computers comfort zone, it will hesitate before going into gear. The shift winds up being that fractional second slower. In which case, I leave it in D and let it decide. I have no complaints how mine auto shifts whether gently or to the floor.

I love putting it in 2nd when I come to stop/slow down and shifting into drive, feels so nice with the exhaust. Wonder if a manual swap would be worth it in the future, only seen a few manual LS'.
