Default Reasonable alternator and fan clutch replacement cost

Hi all,

My LS400 needs a new alternator and fan clutch. Estimate as follows:

Alternator $525
Fan Clutch $380

Can anyone tell me if these are these reasonable rates?

My alternator adventure from the dealership in '07:

Reman alt: $361
Labor: $373

Car died so being stranded, it was the situation.

Thanks for the info. Nice to have some confidence that I'm not being taken to the cleaners too much!

the alternator is a bit too much for something so simple to replace. u could rent tools from autozone and it'll be done. the fan clutch is a little more difficult as more stuff needs to be removed.

www.lexls.com has a part that tells u how to remove the alternator, i think in the timing belt tutorial.

Seems a little steep to me. I could get both of those shipped to my house for around 300$ (34$ core charge included) off rockauto, and the alt and fan clutch aren't that hard to do (at least compared to doing the cam seals I did yesterday). That being said, I haven't paid anyone to do work on my car in years, so I have no real concept of what people charge except the hilarious 700$ quote from Firestone to replace my radiator.
