Apparently not very much although maybe the problem occurs at especially high mileages. My 2000 LS400 is at 136,000 miles and on its original PS pump and there is not a hint of a leak. I went through a bunch of new and rebuilt PS pumps on the 90 LS I drove from new to 183,500 miles over 13 1/2 years.

I had to change the pump on my 98 SC400 (same setup as LS)......so yes they do have the problem but not as often.
