Default maf adaptor for cone filter?

does anyone have any experience with the maf adaptor that allows you to attach a cone filter?
such as
http://www.knfilters.com/search/prod...x?Prod=RU-3580
or
http://www.aemintakes.com/search/pro...?Prod=21-203DK

its sold as a kit on ebay with the filters and im wondering if its worth it,

i know ls400s really need a heat-shield on intakes but i can take care of that

so any experiences?

is it worth it?
no. you'll see decreased hp/tq without the heatshield since you'll now be sucking deliciously hot air in from the engine bay.

what about with a heatsheild since its really not a problem to make one
also what is performance like with the injen intake? or is there anything noticable?
how about if an intake was fabbed to locate the filter in a spot where it gets more air pushed to it, or is the stock ram air system actually decent it just looks kinda restrictive?

-what about it?
-no. just louder. (for short ram intakes, they only really cause improvements on VERY restrictive oem intakes, ours arent.)
-the stock system is more than enough for any 1uz w/o cams or FI. a better filter may be worth a couple (read 0-5)hp but that is something you would literally not notice.

placebo effect with intake systems is high.

well the kits pretty much the same price as the drop in k&n and with a AEM dry flow so i dont need to worry about, the car needs a new filter anyways
has anyone tried doing a bfi mod similar to the one on a sc or soarer, im willing to punch a hole in the flat spot under the intake chamber if its worth it, i wish there was performance mods for these cars sub 500 dollars other than the ects which isnt really a mod, btw whats the custom intake you have?
