Default Adus 583 bushes fit the axle carrier on a 1998 LS400

The Adus 583 axle carrier bushes were installed yesterday. The car was aligned and it drives as it should.

An Adus 583 kit consists of a bush for each end of the control arm and a tiny tube of Prothane grease. I did not use the bush for the control arm to chassis joint.

I drilled and tapped the axle carriers M6 to install grease nipples and allow lubrication of the bushes. Other sites suggest this as dry polyurethane bushes can start to squeak. The hardest part of the while job was getting the Prothane grease into the 3oz grease gun I purchased. I purchased an 8oz tub of grease from Amazon, "Energy Suspension 9.11104 Formula 5 Prelube Grease - 8 oz" for $13.

N.B. Touch the grease, get it into the grease gun or smeared onto the steel bush sleeve when you do the assembly. Then scrub your hands with hand cleaner. You do not want to get this very sticky grease anywhere except where it is needed. Ask me how I know this!

Pensioner,

Great contributions! With at the moment only 14 posts you have given more solid information than many/most with a long history here. There are some really helpful people here and having another is great for all. Glad to have you here.

Cheers.

Very good info. I know you didn't replace the bushing in the arm itself but is the bushing in the kit even compatible for the ucf20 arm?

Default Adus 583

I did not remove the arms from the vehicle so I do not know if the bush will fit the arm to chassis joint.
The bush measures L=50mm, sleeve bore 14.08mm. The body has two diameters, 36.1mm and 37mm. The 37mm section I assume is to lock the bush in the socket to stop rotation.

Yo Vincent...I have the adus poly's and enjoy them. Its firm and you can always make up any difference in ride harshness with the adjustability of the coilovers. Dont forget the strut rod bushings up front, those go out sometime around 100k or after(this is my best guess)

I just did my rear carrier bushings this weekend. The one that 505 replaces is a biatch to push out with a jaw puller, but once done pretty easy. The originals were is pretty sorry shape after 285K miles. The rest of the bushings look pretty good. Can't wait to see how she drives after an alignment.

Default 1999 LS400 Adus 505

Yesterday I replaced all four shocks, OEM on the rear and KYB on the front and replaced the rear carrier bushings with poly Adus 505. I have 137K miles on my 1999 LS400 and both front and rear shocks that I took out looked OK, I wonder if the replacement was unnecessary.
My biggest concern that after Adus 505 poly bushings the ride got so mush stiffer, it not an LS anymore, I feel every little bump in the road. I regret doing it. Is getting new knuckles the only way to go back?

it's the front strut rod bushings where you want to stay OEM, the rears don't play nearly as important a rolein the ride since it's a multi-link setup.

what you're feeling is probably the new shocks breaking in, and comparing the ride from your well worn old shocks.

Thanks, Pure. I will wait for the ride to improve then. Everything is OEM on the front except the KYB shocks. I really enjoy the soft ride LS has.

The ride has improved a bit, the new shocks must be breaking in

Default LS400 and LS430 suspension bushes AVAILABLE!!!

"ROCA USA" market replacement suspension bushes for Lexus and others. I have seen LS400 bushes in kits on Ebay for about $25 per bush and on Amazon there are three pages of them for many applications.

I have not had sight of any yet but the pictures suggest they may be a better alternative than the polyurethane option.

Anyone has experience with ROCA bushings? Any feedback on them?
