Default Bush dimensions

Pressed a bush out today to measure it.

Fixing bolt OD 11mm.
Bush inner sleeve bore 11.84mm
Bush inner sleeve length 50.35mm
Bush body OD 38.00mm
Length of the bush socket in the axle carrier 26.8mm
Gap between the inner surfaces of the U shaped yoke that the fixing bolt clamps onto the bush sleeve 52.34mm
I don't have a bore micrometer so I guess the bush socket bore in the axle carrier is 37.98mm ish.

Armed with this information I will go out among the bush vendors tomorrow and see what is available off the shelf.

I have a Mazda Miata and by pure coincidence last week I received a set of polyurethane suspension bushes to tighten the old girl up a bit while I chase round car-parks auto-crossing. These bushes are supposed to work wonders. There must be a dozen or more of them in big bags. They were made by Energy Suspension. I have not installed them yet as I am waiting for my new springs and struts. They look very similar to what we need to solve the "Lexus only supply the axle carrier complete with bushes" problem. None of them are the correct size but things can be turned and tweaked.

More soon. Watch this space...........

Adus list bushes for vehicles up to mid 1997. Do you know for a fact that Audus bushes fit the 1998 style axle carriers? There are two bushes in the bottom of the axle carrier. We are discussing replacing the bush which anchors the strut to the carrier which runs parallel to the drive shaft.

you mean the strut rod to the carrier right?

the rear carrier assy. was unchanged from '95-00 (part no. verified) so if the bushing fits ina 95-97 it should fit a 98-00 no issues.

So does the adus 583 kit fit on the ucf20? On this site it says 90-94 but if click the link it says 90-02 but we all know ucf20s ended in 00.

http://foreignautosalvage.com/bushings.htm

I bought 5056 trailing arm bushings for my ucf20 when mybushings.com was still around. It listed it for the ucf20 but when the arm was removed, the bushings had a bigger OD then the ID of the trailing arm so it was never installed. Only the 505 was installed which I didnt have any issues with.

My Adus 583 bushes should arrive today. I will post as soon as I know if they will fit or not. Fingers crossed but I have my doubts! Other posters noted that they used a 32mm socket to press out their bush. I needed a 28mm socket to press out my bush. We will see what arrives.

Look! "It that a light at the end of this tunnel or is there a train coming?"

Default Adus 583 will fit the axle carrier on a 1998 LS400.

Two Audus 583 "Rear Axle carrier and Lateral Arm Kits" arrived today. Each kit has two different polyurethane bushes, I presume for each end of the Lateral Arm. One bush has a body OD of 38.5mm, body lip at each end OD 41.5mm, inner steel sleeve length 49.8mm and a bore of 14.09mm.

This bush will fit the axle carrier of my 1998 LS 400 replacing the bush which attaches to the arm that is parallel to the drive shaft.

Ok cool, so one of the actually fits on the spindle side of the arm. What about the bushing in the arm itself?

Wait, doesnt the 583 bushings run parallel to the axle?

you dont have to torch them, can take most of these to your local buddy at a shop and have them pressed out/pressed in (make sure they use a TON of lube or else they'll squeak, sometimes they squeak anyway).

vince, since you've mentioned it before, keep in mind the ride will be affected a decent amount by these poly bushings.
