This is kinda weird. When i back out of my driveway, and the rear tires go over the small hump at the end of my driveway, i hear a slight thump/bump at the right front of the car. seems to happen when im turning the wheel to the left. When the car was up on a lift getting the oil changed i went and looked/pulled on all the rods in the right front end and all seemed fine... Any Ideas? Thanks!

check the balljoints in the upper arms. kinda common. could be strut rod bushings also or lower control arm bushings if your power steering rack leaks at all.

he said its coming from the right front. trans mount would be between the front seats.

Transmission mount is the first thing that popped into my head as well, since it's a common failure, and being in the center of the car could sound like it's coming from the front. Does it make a difference in the sound if the wheel is straight or turned as you back out? I'm assuming that the noise is only when the rear wheels raise & drop, not the front, correct?

I was thinking pretty much the same thing b/c the wheel is turned and there is pressure pushing down on the front. Even though everything looked good, that doesn't mean that it is. Some bushings take alot of force to see the wear in them.
The tranny mount you would feel it more then hear it.

no leaks in P/S, so I guess i need to take it to a shop to see what it is. I dont have a rack here, and have never done anything to front end components. Do you guys know if this is an expensive fix.. like the upper control bushing?

upper control arm bushings are like $40. easy to change yourself. upper control arm is ~$200 iirc, also not very hard to change yourself. strut rod bushing, $30, not very hard to do yourself, but youd likely want to get an alignment afterward. lower control arm bushing $30, not hard to do your self. you dont need a lift. a jack and jack stand will do just fine along with a basic mechanics ratchet/socket set, and if you need to pull the upper control arm, youll want a balljoint seperator. you can rent that from autozone.

even if you dont fix it yourself, jack it up, take the wheel off, and find out what is wrong so you know you wont get ripped off on the repair.

I wonder... if I asked what iirc stood for, would I get slammed. I need a right upper control arm, the baal jont has play. Best price I can get here up north in Eskimo country [we call them Inuit now] is 372.90. I wouldn't mind getting one for 200.00.
