When I had the same messages I disconnected the negative battery cable for about 5 minutes, put it back, and mine was fixed. Hope yours is that simple. Good luck.

when mine (99) came on with 1349 my oil control valve was dirty, I pulled them out and cleaned them with carb cleaner spray, and also cleaned the chamber they fit in. no more trouble... it has been about a year.

hi when you said clean the chamber, you ment the housing that the valve goes in. How do you clean it? What do you clean it with. My ls is throwing the code for vvti malfunction bank 1 giving me 4 possible reason , but my car runs normal. I supposed all lexus with vvti goes through this.

I have a set of mechanical fingers that I "grabbed" on to a small piece of cloth, soaked it in carburetor cleaner and run it up and down in the chamber, plus twisting it around and around, I replaced the dirty cloth as necessary. my car also ran normal, I have two of these 99 LS's, but only the one has done this.
I went ahead and cleaned both sides on mine, the pass side takes longer to get to it, but it solved my light problem....

you did not have the 1349 code.... the ECU uses the VSC light for any number of problems, you just have to read the codes....

I just had this error occur on my '98 LS400. No engine misses, and no other codes, just multiple 1349s. Like Billy says, it was the oil control valve. My mechanic replaced it at a total cost of about $250 (parts and labor) and now all is well again.

Just wanted to reinforce the importance of the OCV to this code.
