Default New LS400

Hey guys

Just picked up a 1996 LS400 for $800 bucks. Looking for some opinions if I made a good or bad buy.

$800 is dirt cheap for a '96 even crashed. Why didn't the air bags deploy, what's the mileage, is there damage to the engine or tranny from that hit? If its just body panels to replace then that's a good price, if more is involved then it may cost u some$$$$$$. On the other hand once repaired you can hold it down for a very long time. The 1uZ engines are diehard

The air bags did not deploy because the hit was above the rail where the sensor is mounted. It was a truck's back bumper into the grill. The engine and tranny were not harmed. 155k on the clock. It only needs to 2 headlights, hood, grill, core support, radiator shroud, radiator and condensor

In that case you can't beat the price. Still works out much cheaper. You should also have the timing belt and WP checked and changed if necessary. Congrats on your LS, just fix her up and treat her right, you'll run over 500K. Good Luck!

You're gonna need a little more then what you mentioned but it's still an awesome deal. Hell, just in parts it's worth 5 times that. Looks like it was in good shape before the accident, from what I can see. Was it a one owner? Your state? It still idles at 650RPM, but I wouldn't run it anymore untill ya fix the radiator, at least.

It looks to be a two owner. It actually has the dealer service records from the first owner. It has the orignal toolbox, first aid kit, and the orignal window sticker still. I threw in a new radiator and took it for a 78 mile trip yesterday. Car drives like a dream.
