Default Rear CV Boot leaking grease

My 91 LS rear CV boots (4 of them) have been leaking grease from the clamp area for over 12 months now. I wonder how much cost to have this fix? If I do not have this fixed, what would happen?!
Any body have this problems? I appreciate your comment. thanks.

how much grease. have the axels been taken off for any reason, such as changing the rear struts. If so they could have been over filled with grease,or the clamps were put on to tight and cut the boot.I would take off a clamp check the boot and replace clamp.Which could also have been loose.good luck.

Contact ABC Axle. They have it at very reasonable price. i got my fit at ABC Axle. PM me if you need ABC info.
or you can go into ebay and search for integra axle. The number is in there. Tell ABC that Dr. David sent you.

it depends, are they leaking just from the sides, or are they leaking because the boot is ripped. If it is torn or has an open part on it, a pebble or dirt or rock or something can get in there and cause you to have to get a whole new axle. If the grease is leaking and it eventually goes away because they grease has ran out, then you might grind the axle there too and have to replace that. For me, my 2 cv boots replaced was $430. but this was because my ES is a 94 and the boots just got old and had tears in them

Lexie,
You're in Hawaii too? cool.

Anyway, my '91 LS400 also was leaking grease at the rear CV's. Upon closer inspection, the boots/clamps were in good shape. What came out seems to be excess grease resulting from air suspension replacement work done by the previous owner at Servco Lexus.

Hi rybikowsky, healerhand, egainer and pascualjr. Thanks for your response. really appreciate.

healerhand: there is no ABC Axle in Honolulu, too bad! by the way, what do u mean by "integra axle" ? Is this the parts name for the LS CV ?

EGainer, your CV boots replacement cost only $430.00. I Think that is not too bad. Lexus adviser here told me this cost over $1,000.00 ouch!!

pascualjr: Do you have records from the previous owner how much the air suspension job had cost him at Servco Lexus? Was that for the front or the rear? or both? What was the milage when the air suspension was replaced?

irontoad.com sells C.V. boot kit rear for $26.38 for each side. I wonder how hard to replace the CV boot? anybody ??

There is no tear or crack with my CV boots. I think the CV boots rubber got harden after 11 year and that's why started leaking!

you can do it yourself, one of my friends did, of course he didnt have a lexus, but i think that if you take off the wheels and look at it, you should be able to figure it out. but if it looks too hard, dont do it yourself at the risk of breaking something.

lexie, I don't have the actual records from the previous owner, so I can't say how much it cost him. It was only the rear air suspension that was replaced at 46k back in mid 2001. Being the present owner of the car, Servco Lexus printed out a service history free of charge.
