Default Power Mirrors wont work.

So i bought a 92 Ucf10 yesterday with every option on it. Great car and i love it. The only problem it has is the power mirrors dont work, both of them, and also the antenna is broken but i found a way to fix it after a search.

Anyways, im wondering if theres anyways to diagnose to see if its the motor in the mirror or if its something else like wiring. The heating elements in them DO work if that matter. Also the telescopic steering, power seats, and memory functions DO work, so i dont think its a problem with the second ecu.

If anyone has any input, please let me know.

Thanks!

Check the fuses first.

Most obvious is the fuse. Did you check it?

Fuse is good.
I think im going to jump power onto the harness and see if the motor works. Cant seem to find any wiring diagrams though..

Might be obvious but have you moved the switch under the mirror position adjuster switch to select which mirror you want to adjust,it is normally left in the centre position.

See the attached electrical circuit for a 1990 LS400. I am not positive if the circuit on your 92 is the same as a 90 but that’s all I have. If both mirrors are inop, then you need to look for a discontinuity in the circuit that is common to both the left and right side. I doubt all 4 mirror motors decided to fail at the same time.

The diagram shows four possible places where the left and right side have a common point - 1) the grey wire supplying power from the fuse to the switches, 2) the operation switch itself, 3) somewhere in the ground downstream of the switches or 4) the selector switch is inop and stuck in the neutral position.

There is a junction block in the ground path. Did you check that?

To do basic troubleshooting, I would start at one of the mirror connectors. It’s pretty easy to get the mirror off and access the connector. The mirror is held on with three screws, two screws are under the weatherstripping and a third screw is under the tweeter. At the connector, check to see if you get voltage when you operate the switches. If you do, then you probably have a problem in your ground path. If you don’t get voltage at the connector, then you have a problem in one of the switches or the power wire.

Well, i just went to check everything and they suddenly work again. Mind you, i havent driven this car since i bought it and i just had some time to check it out. Guess something might have been a little loose.

Thanks for all the help and information from everyone.

someone mentioned the fuse, and the diagram says radio 2 fuse. I dont see that in my owners manual. I see a mirror heater fuse.. but that just says its for the heater. Is there one fuse for the mirrors exclusivly?

The manual says that the mirrors are on the dome fuse.. is that correct...?
