Default check engine diagnosis

94 ls400 I tried checking the check engine light with a piece of wire I can't get the cel light to blank to let me know what the problem I put the wire in te1 and e1 terminal and the and e1 no blanks

if the CEL doesnt light up when you insert the key the bulb may be burnt out or removed by a shady previous owner.

The cell light come on it don't blank when I jump the terminals for diagnosis mode

This was just covered a few days ago in a different thread. In my manual for normal it shows 8 blinks which means continous blinking. (every .25 second)
Are you using the diagnostic box under the dash or under the hood? Try both to see if any different.

Make sure the following settings are correct when connecting the diagnostic pins.

"In order to read the code the battery must be 11v or higher, throttle valve fully closed, transmission in neutral position, and AC turned off."
