Starter spinning, no start
First off, yes, I did use the search bar haha.
Since winter hit I've been having what I believe to be are starter problems. I heard an occasional grind from time to time but it still started right up and now it just sounds like it's spinning without engaging the flywheel.
At first it just took a couple cranks if the first one didn't do it but now it's to the point where I can crank it for over 5 minutes and still get nothing but spin.
I assume it's the pinion(or whatever you want to call it) in the starter sticking and it's probably time for a new starter.

Well it's either a starter solenoid or worn teeth on the gear, but either way you're going to end up replacing the starter motor. Does it feel like the engine is turning over or do you just hear the starter spinning? If the engine is turning over but there's no ignition, that's a different branch for diagnostics...

Well it's either a starter solenoid or worn teeth on the gear, but either way you're going to end up replacing the starter motor. Does it feel like the engine is turning over or do you just hear the starter spinning? If the engine is turning over but there's no ignition, that's a different branch for diagnostics...

Yes, either the solenoid isn't working or the teeth are completely stripped. The starter solenoid doesn't really have a well-defined service life but you expect it to fail at some point. Replacing the starter motor is probably the necessary procedure.
I also have to admit I haven't looked closely at this car but usually (or always) the car has a ground strap that connects the back of the starter motor to the frame of the car. Sometimes this can become loose or the connection corrodes so that even with a healthy battery the motor won't allow enough juice through it to operate properly. It's a longshot and seems unlikely but you might want to validate that the battery is healthy and that the ground cable is firmly connected and all connections are clean.
