Hey guys & gals.

Is it typical for the LS400 doors to freeze shut? I have sprayed silicone lube on all the door seals, but the doors still freeze. Is this typical (for those in the north...), and is there a better solution? (short of a heated garage everywhere you go.. )

I have had it happen a couple times here, I finally did get it open...Though No solution yet as to a good solid fix. Once It was so cold once I got the door open the latch would hardly move to hold the door closed which was quite a interesting drive to say the least.

i wonder if a petroleum based lube would have a lower freeze point and help your situation?

i bought my car after it had been sitting for a year and i couldnt get the doors open either! it rains a lot over here and mold had actually sealed the doors shut.

Maybe a parrafin-based wax type? I'm thinking along the lines of Pledge furniture wax. Or maybe plain car wax on the rubber seals. Couldn't hurt anything, and might just work.

wax's are ok but will leave a thick film. wd40 with destroy the rubber after some time. cooking spary like pam works great to help but its still a temp job and can leave a film after a while and will need to be cleaned with soap and water.

This just happen to me.

With all the snow we had I haven't drove the car in over 3 weeks.

I occasional remote start it here and there, today after the car shut off I noticed one of the lights were on. I attempted to open the doors which were all shut tight. I did not attempt to apply any pressure and decided to wait until it open on its own. I will have a dead battery if the lights don't shut off on its own.

So I finally got my frozen doors to open. Some regular de icer from Auto Zone and manually inserting the key and turn did the trick (note: door lock will not open w/ remote after freezing-up...well it did not work for me).

I used Royal Purple Maxfilm Lubricant around the door seals and I also use a de-icer spray in the locks...works wonders for me.
