Default factory air from lexus

so a buddy of mine just picked up a 1997 ls400 with factory air and he wants to get a datasystem controller for it, the question is, how quick are we talking about if you were to ride low (about no gap fender and tire) not tucking, just lowered, how fast will the bags blow? he has 130k miles on the ls and i believe the bags were changed at 100k or so. From my believe, i would think the strut would wear out before the bags? and if you're riding low, how would it put stress on the bags (i.e popping a deflated balloon rather than an inflated) thanks guys

i believe the struts are the issue. this type of bag is used without issues on aftermarket air systems frequently.

so it is the struts you have to worry about ? my buddy is just scared of leaks coming from his bags if he was to drive lowered. i didn't know you could run OEM bags on aftermarket struts and air tank/compressors. i personally am running UAS kit and it works perfect, its just that my buddy is questioning about running OEM bag set up.

personally, i had thought it was the OEM bags because all the ones i've seen blow also end up leaking air, but as i havent had a 1st gen, and i'm having trouble remembering what happened to my friends cars (all ended up ditching the factory air after using controllers) I'll wait for another 1LS vet to chime in.

same problem exists, only way to use old OEM bags for an extended period of time with a controller is to drive high and park low.

you're not going to blow a good bag from drivng low, plain and simple. age must have played a factor.

thx guys, one more question. my buddy just got the datasystem on his car, its the ASI65X model or something close to that, the only question is, why does it seem like his oem bags only allow him to sit on top of his rims (19 inch) even with the SS kit. i guess the OEM bags don't let you tuck your rims? with my uas bags, same rims as him i am able to tuck my rear rims all the way til the exhaust is laying on the ground. his controller is in super low mode already. thx in advance guys.

get a friend who can read japanese to read the instructions and show you how to unlock the "super low" mode.
