Default exhaust mod...

I was wondering if anyone has ever thought of or has taken off the mid mufflers on there LS and replaced it with straight pipe and has seen an increase in performance?

Removing the resonators after the cat before the primary mufflers won't really do much, sound or performance wise. Try the muffler delete, it'll give it a deeper v8 tone and it barely makes it louder. i know a lot of people say it doesn't add any power but for some reason it makes my LS a bit more responsive. But maybe it's all in my in my head.

replacing the piping will free up the exhaust.

replacing just the rearmost or middle most mufflers (and not both) its not really going to help.

Default mufflers

I had my rear cans removed with straight pipe and there is no noticable performance change but the sound is.It is just a little throaty i enjoy the change because it is a mild change.By the way my car is a 2000 ls400 with 18 inch is350 wheels and 255/40/18 sumitomos and after market grill and it is just to my cons taste

Have to say my first step was removing the middle resonators and adding pipe to the mufflers. It definitely made it a good bit louder like a mustang maybe. It certainly did nothing for performance. Now I have no resonators (including middle) with hi flow stainless mufflers - a bit too loud maybe

Same here steveski, I got straight pipe from the cats, with an x-pipe and hi-flow mufflers and I think it sounds great.
