Default LS400 ('94) Ball Joint Challenge...

Hey fellow Lexus enthusiasts, I'm looking for a little expertise. My LS400 recently got looked at and the outlook was not good. The mechanic was particularly concerned about the amount of play in the upper control arm caused by poor ball joints. The problem (as he stated) was that the only problem was with the upper ball joints.

Here are where my questions start. The mechanic said the only way he knew of getting the part was by buying the complete assembly for both sides. I was NOT enthusiastic about hearing that the price with labor would come to around $900... So, what would you suggest? Is there a way to buy just the upper ball joint for each side, and if so, where should I look. Thanks!

What about this website? I'm not a professional either, but it looks promising. What do you others think??

Cool Fixed

Thanks for the info everyone. I managed to get ahold of a reputable replacement ($135 for each side) and replaced the control arms myself. This was NOT an easy fix, and I wouldn't suggest any beginners (as I was) to try it. I managed to do it without disconnecting the entire suspension, but it was not easy.
She purrs like a cougar now though... Oh baby
