Default Massive Coolant Leak from Behind Crank Pulley

I had some major overheating issues that resulted in me parking my 92 LS400 for a while. Recently I did a flush and fill and thermostat change. Filling the car from the bleeder valve, then closing it, I started her up. After a short while of idling I noticed a MASSIVE leak coming from behind the crank pulley. At first I thought it was coming from some of the bypass hoses up top near the manifold and EGR valve and running down, but that was not it.

The leak looks like someone is just pissing a steady stream of coolant and it does this until the levels run below whatever is leaking and then it will stop.

I think it is a blown water pump seal, or freeze plug (IDK if this engine even has freeze plugs).

Much help would be appreciated. If this is a bad pump seal I will change it, I am due for a timing belt anyways, but if not, I may just swap the whole engine, I have some oil leaks I am tired of anyway.

Did they say water pump ?
The weeping hole has blown open for when the bearing is wearing . It is made to do this to tell you its time to replace it.

Either the pump or the O-ring that seals up the coolant bypass could have possibly broken as well.

Curious, how many miles on car? When was the timing belt service done and was the water pump changed?

I'm having a water pump discussion on the 3-LS forum. Most change at the 90-100K timing belt service so we don't know how long these can potentially go. Yours blowing a seal or bearing would give additional info into Toyota water pump longevity.

I never saw any documentation that verified it but I was told that an improved water pump design was implemented, without a part number change, fairly early in the LS400 run.

As I have reported before, the water pump in the 90 LS400 I drove for 13+ years failed in the mid-1990's at about 75,000 miles. I had the water pump replaced along with the timing belt, idlers, tensioner, etc. and sold the car in 2003 shortly after I had all the same stuff replaced again at the 180,000 mile service.
