THIS ONLY CAUSES THE BOTTOM HEATER TO WORK. MY SEAT ONE IS THE BROKEN ONE. I DO NOT KNOW IF THIS WILL WORK IF THE BOTTOM HEATER IS BROKEN AND THE BACK ONE WORKING, I'D IMAGINE IT WOULD.

I've finally done it, I repaired the heated seat. This is my first picture thread so bear with me


I removed the seat cover of my driver seat, and then i preceded to test al the cable back there. Two of them are the heated seats one (I concluded this because they were the only two that didn't affect the power seats) One is in the right upper corner and one is in the bottom left.

1. Remove the seat cover (Two 8mm bolts on the bottom of panel)

2. Unplug these two plugs

3. Splice a wire running between these. Make sure to get all three wires lined up correctly

4. After you successfully splice it, tape the ends up.

5. Plug the bottom one in, But KEEP THE TOP ONE UNPLUGGED (if you plug it back in the power seat won't move)

6. Put the cover back on

Enjoy the warmth



This works because it completes the circuit. THey are wired in parallel, so if one heater breaks, they both don't get power. I'd imagine this would work for any combination of the heaters working or not working because it'd still complete the circuit (Maybe you'd have to change what plug you unplug)

So you bypassed the back warmer to make bum warmer work?

Why would plugging the top plug make the power seats not work?

Any way to test which of the two elements is broken?

I honestly don't know why that plug made the seats not work, it just did. I guess it's one of those things. I on't know how you would exactly test them. I'd imagine you could test them by attaching a wire like so, then if anything got warm you could tell which one works. I got lucky for having the bum one work. This wire completes the circuit a bad heater could cause.

Did you use an OHM meter to check to see of the circuit was broken?

Yeah i did use one, and i got a big 0 before

It's an old post I know. Could you better explain which wires you spliced into and connected? it looks like the clips you worked on connect power to the back heat element and to the seat heat element. Are you splicing the wires to each of the power connections?

I repaired my seat heater the other day. In my 96 LS400 the element is two wire and a ground, three pin connector. The two wires converge at the ground so you should have continuity between all three pins. I found that the wires work hardened and burned in the folded flap between pads in my seats. A little flux, solder, and wire and it was back together. I did this while also replacing the seat leather with replacements from LSeats. The front seat set also came with a console leather and door grip leather.
