ECU rebuilt--trouble with transmission
1993 LS 400, 200,000 miles--ECU died, no spark no fuel, no codes--car would not start--had ECU rebuilt and car started right up, everything seemed OK except when going into passing gear at 40-50 mph car stutters hard at shift point and doesn't shift. I can accerlate to 80 mph if I don't use passing gear with no problem. The only occures when I floor the gas and it downshifts into passing gear then the shaking and jumping happens. Unhooked Neg. battery terminal for 30 min. to reset ECU, no change. Does the ECU control the shifting and should I send it back for a check as it is under warrenty.

if it was rebuilt by ate, they dont know what they are doing. read my previous threads about my ecu issues. they "repaired" my ecu twice. never solved my problem. had to buy a used one. and then they refused to give me a refund for their service that doesnt work.

ATE ECU Rebuild
Yes it was rebuilt by ATE for $189 plus shipping. If you goto E-bay the same company will do it fo $149. I found this out too late and had to pay the extra $40. Like I said, before the rebuild the car would not run, at least now everything seems OK except for dropping down into passing gear when I get all the shaking. Does the ECU control the shifting into passing gear or is this a new problem that just popped up?

the ecu gives signals to the transmission ecu for shifting purposes so it is very possible it is your ecu. btw, i got lucky and found the ate service on ebay on sale for $100. still was a waste of money. i even asked for the ecu schematic so i could fix it myself since they couldnt repair it. i have 1.7v on the tps signal line when the connector is unplugged. it should be 0. i told them this multiple times before each repair. how hard is it for a tech to follow the circuit back from that pin and find the faulty component? they obviously dont troubleshoot. all they seem to do is just replace the caps and send it back.
