91 LS400 strut rod bushings - press in?
I've decided I need to replace both strut rod bushings on my 1991 LS400 with ~170k miles. I'm also planning to replace all 4 shocks/struts.
The 90-94 strut rod setup is different from the 95+, so these questions are specific to the Gen1:
Is the strut rod (bar) bushing (cushion) replacement independent of the strut replacement? I.e., do I save any extra steps by doing them both at the same time?
Part #48674-50030 is my strut rod bushing, including the rubber center and the metal carrier.
Part #48674-40051 is just the rubber center. It seems that since they sell this separately, I could just press out the old rubber center and press in the new one, saving some $$. Has anyone done this? Think it will work?
Thanks in advance for any help.

www.lexls.com is a good source of info for our cars.
It is independant of the strut replacement, but since you are down there and have just about everything broken apart to do the strut replacement anyway, this is only a few extra steps.
When I had mine done, i ust went and replaced with the new part with the metal carrier. Saved me from pressing the old one out, and I didn't have resources to do so anyways.
