Well, I made it. I fawned over this car from day one. It was high school over 20 years ago. I dated a girl who's mom had one, a friend's dad had one...I wanted one...and NOW I GOT HER!

I just purchased a 1991 LS400. She has 218,000 miles of experience under her chassis and a detailed service history dating back to 9k (seriously, every oil change and part replacement for the last 21 years). She has some of the typical signs of her age, but otherwise is pristine. I love her...is that okay? Ah, who cares, I love her anyway!

I will begin posting questions for help in getting her back to showroom condition. I apreciate, in advance, all assistance, advice, 2 cents, etc.

Scott

I am somewhat experienced with forums and with automobiles. The lexus is now my 5th vehicle (6 if you count the one I technically own with my daughter and 7 is owned by my wife’s corporation!). I have a range from 1936 to 2005. I havent had much time to get pics yet...I have been too busy cruising! Here is the only pic I have of her...taken after I got her all insured and tagged!

First question: What are the best bulbs? The corners and fogs are dead and the headlights are weak at best. Thanks everyone!

The List:

1936 Ford Tudor Trunkback Sedan (unmolested)
1969 442 W30 Sports Coupe (33k miles)
1991 Chevrolac Custom P/U (heartbeat of a 1971 Eldo)
1991 Lexus LS 400
1998 Jeep Wrangler Sport

Daughter: 1999 Saturn SL1
Wife: 2005 Honda Accord

whew...I got issues!

Nice pickup. Any modification plans for her?
Regardging bulbs, I would recommend Sylvania Silverstar Ultra for the headlights and pretty much anything for the other bulbs.

Nice! Welcome to CL! It looks just like the 91 that I had.

Well, I am somewhat of a traditionalist. Of all the automobiles I have, only the truck is custom and only the jeep is modified. I have not thought much about mods for the ls yet. I just want to get everything working properly first.

You see, I have not owned a car since the 90s and have not had AC since then. in fact, she is now my only nice cruising vehicle. So, I bought her for that purpose. Dont get me wrong the other cars are beautiful, but for other reasons....they're fast or will go anywhere.....

The other reason that I have not thought about mods is that there is only one spot of rust...besides that, she is gorgeous inside and out. She runs and rides like a dream.

Here are the few issues I have at this point (and I know that they are typical):

climate control backout, speedo needle fade, driver's door lock button detatched, auto antenna is now manual, various interior and exterior bulbs out, trac warning light.....all simple little things that are easily fixed!

all of those issues, except perhaps the detached door lock button, already have numerous threads. using the search feature will save you a lot of time in waiting for a response.
