Code 13 - Distributor Rotor?
Does anyone have any advice for dealing with an occasional CEL Code 13? I recently changed my distributor rotors, caps, spark plugs and wires on my 1990 LS400, and ever since I have seen the CEL once in a while. My RPM's while idling when warm are at about 200-300, and I know that is low, but the engine seems to run fine. I even noticed some improvement with acceleration after the tune-up. Occasionally the CEL comes on, but, if I turn on the AC and the RPMs increase to about 400 while idling, the CEL goes off....
Could an improperly installed distributor rotor cause the low RPM’s and CLE?
Thanks

iirc the rotor can only go on one way. as for the low rpm at idle, i would clean the tb and also disassemble and clean the idle speed control valve. it is prolly clogged with sludge from the pcv system. ill be doing both of these myself friday when i pull the intake manifold to replace the contacts in the starter.

Well, after cleaning the Throttle Body and idle speed control valve, it seems the Code 13 is appearing even more frequently... I'm stumped. Any takers?
