if you really like the car, fix it. i know a good seat for that year ls400 is hard to find, but a rack shouldnt behard to come by. if you not really attached, get a newer year ls and keep it moving.

Many variables to consider, car condition, overall how the systems are....engine, tranny, electronics...etc.

The steering rack won't be much of a problem except $$. What is wrong with the seat? What other problems does the car have?

^^^for sure what he said^^^ I also have a 1990 and was in the same pickle as you. Except I wanted to sell my car to buy more guns. At the end of the day I chose the car.
Reason = this car drives, feels, works better than most newer cars i've been in. With routine maintenance this car should last you plenty more years. Keep her.

i was thinking the same thing also..paints good leather is in ok shape have a good deal of audio in the trunk...the seat is tilted to one side and the leather is absolutly finished...mechanic said a wile back inner tie rods will need to be replaced soon...i liked the car alot but always wanted a 2nd gen gs since day one....kinda hard decision also insurance and new registration came in the mail today..so i need to make a decision fast

If this is your 2nd car then you can really deal with letting it go. But if you have to sell this and buy another one then i think you should hang on to it a little longer. The seat may be uncomfortable but you can probably live with it until replacement. And other than the inner tie rods needed to be fixed you can probably live with that too. So consider all options, do you still want to keep the car or it is time for it to go.

Main aspect is the driveline and systems of the car that won't leave you stranded or poses a safety risk. The rest is secondary depending what you are willing to spend.

Since you mentioned you wanted a 2-GS that may be a better route since those were in production till '05 and can be found in good condition. Review the numbers it will take and pick a direction.

From what you mentioned, I would say let the car go. As it ages, it is only going to degrade more.
