Question Need exhaust mid-pipe on my 96

Besides Sewell, where can I get a mid-pipe? It has to be factory Lexus. Aftermarket does not use mandrel bending for this part. I'm trying to find a used one but no luck. The number in the pic is 17410:

Thanks, James

What happpened? Is the stock part damaged? Corroded? Was it replaced with aftermarket X or Y and you want to return to stock?

The stock Y works very well and it is a good plan to use the factory part. Depending on your above answers you could find a Y from any Lexus V8 engine and have a compentent shop weld it in creating a functioning part. If you do not have any of the stock Y (no flanges or resonator or rear center pipe) a compentent shop can still use a stock pipe as I describe above.

Well the tin shield holds a sound deadening fiberglass matting which over the years holds in the moisture and rotted out the pipe. Someone already patched a piece of pipe and the rest of it is thin. I'm a welder but this pipe is not worth saving. All the aftermarket is crap usually and they do not mandrel ben their pipes. I searched Google and found it a little cheaper but most hits I get are for cat-back exhaust systems or mufflers.

Sounds like you still can salvage the flanges. I would post on in the classifieds to buy someones removed Y pipe after they did a custom dual system. The stock Y is going to be VERY similar between models and you can install it with your flanges and some minor pipe work in 2" size (stock is 1.97") Read through the SC and GS sections and if you see someone planning a custom exhaust PM them for the removed Y.

The stock pipe is very important for making good low speed torque as it scavenges very nicely. The internal shape of the Y is formed and very hard to duplicate. It is also low grade stainless.

How would a SC or a GS have a similar pipe but they are on two totally different chassis's? Would the 90-94 LS4's work? I prefer bolt on if I can.

The new exhaust isn't so expensive considering it is OEM at $406.63, however considering the size of the pipe, you may consider getting this item locally should our shipping costs justify it.

For a y-pipe it is. I'm trying to find a used one. I waiting on another member here for his reply to my PM. If worse comes to worse, I will order a new one. The nearest Lexus dealer is just over an hour away.

No one with a mandrel bender. I got it fixed but it is not going to last long.

Lexus's are not common in junk yards around here and if they are they are usually ES300's.
