My Idiot Light for the bakes comes on lately when I accelerate from a stop and when I am in traffic. Any ideas why this happens?

search first, add fluid to your brake master cylinder

This is covered in basic maintainance checks in the vehicle handbook what ever you do if your timing belt needs replacement do not attempt yourself

Same thing will happen when doing a panic stop. Brake fluid will slosh and cause the brake light on the dash to come on. When this happens your brake fluid is low or reaching the MIN level. If you have no leaks then this is an indicator that you will need to change your brake pads soon.

PureDrifter--If you add brake fluid then when it's time to change the pads you can possibly get an overflow from the brake reservoir (sp) when the pistons are pushed back to accept the new pads.
