Default Price Comparison for 1st Gen LS Lighting

I was just looking for some good prices on this stuff on the net so I thought I would post this in case anyone is looking to buy. Even if you are not it is interesting to see the huge price ranges for products that are usually made by the same manufacturer (at least that has been my experience looking at this stuff, like similar model #s, descriptions and pics).

Clear Front Bumper

$188 http://www.lightlens.com/lexus.htm
$125 http://www.toysport.com/New%20Produc...onversions.htm
$69 http://www.importtoys.com/lexusparts/ls400.htm
$50 http://ls.lexusport.com/styling.html
$50 http://secure15.dellhost.com/~d30022...nses_lexus.htm
$40 http://www.procarparts.com/store/dis...LS400-9094-CBL
$30 http://www.speedalliance.com/lightin...ner_lamps.html

Clear Tail Lights (ricer?)

$488 http://www.lightlens.com/lexus.htm
$470 http://www.toysport.com/New%20Produc...onversions.htm
$400 http://www.euimotorsports.com/light/tail/tail.html
$277 http://arlosautoaccs.safeshopper.com/150/cat150.htm?597
$220 http://ls.lexusport.com/styling.html

Red/White Tail Lights

$299 http://www.importtoys.com/lexusparts/ls400.htm
$140 http://www.procarparts.com/store/dis...id=RCT-12-9094

And I should also say that you can get this stuff from eBay at better prices sometimes. I got the clear front bumper lens on eBay from procarparts.com for $9.95 + $8 shipping. That's about $30 off from their website price for the exact same thing. They also post Red/White tail lights but the price is only $2 cheaper than the website price, and people start bidding higher than the website price...idiots. Save as much money as possible so you can get those Lowenhart LD1's...

You can also get some Eurolite xenon H4's on eBay for about $19 shipped. I will install mine and post a pic (if they look good that is ). Has anyone tried changing the ugly yellow foglights to another color?

rsg,

thanks so much for the info! I have been pricing the front bumper lights recently and have been shocked at the huge differences in prices.

On a side note, does anyone recommend any particular brand or store, based on experience? Or any places to avoid?

Thanks,

rhlight

procarparts.com is good. Try to see if they are selling on eBay, their prices are usually lower there and the shipping is a lot lower (like the red/clear bumpers-$20 shipping if you win from eBay, $38 on their website, and I live in the same state as them).
Fast shipping.
The front bumper I got from them looks like it is good quality, comes with light bulbs. Haven't installed it yet. Does anyone know if there are clear bulbs that emit orange light for the turn signals? I don't like the orange look in the lenses from some of the pics on the website.

Default changed fog color from -4100K to +5900K

Yes. I cannot deny that I do not fancy yellow. I have not had my foglights yellow for a really long time. All you do is break the yellow glass inside the bulb holder, and make sure you are completely butt nakee and don't wear any safety glasses when you hammer and/or smash the glass casing.

For the past couple months my fogs have had Philips ultinon bulbs in them. I was going to post pics because I was satisfied with completely everything and wanted to share the moment, but then I left the car and went to NYC. ALso, I was VERY satisfied with the added night-driving safety. I was actually joking about being fully unclothed. And at least cover your eyes so you will be able to see the color difference that you just incurred.

On the other hand there is a little glare due to the overpowering lumens to the 1990 halogen designed reflector housings. however only hicks, certain ignorant domestic drivers, and amish people complain. But even those poeple shouldn't complain about nothin, because they only looked straight at my lights because they were sparkly 6000k and not regular pee colored halogen.

technology IS a good thing when you are speeding through pitchblack darkness.......really fast....b/c you don't want to hit anybodeee..... or the hot model chick that you would save and bring home because she was running away from mr. molester man on the logging road. I must sleep.

Default silver bulbs

I've seen silver bulbs for clear housing that do emit variousmaybe just three colors; and yes orange. I don't know if they are bright/safe enough for euro drivingon bumpy germanroads. but in america probably.

I actually like my clear bumprs with a subtle, evenly hinted reflection of orange. they look more solid and not so cloudycheap plasticky.---to me, from my perspective, my eyes, with my glasses on--(I must say this:-please no one attack me for my entitled opinion. I've seen so many hits to so many egos on various forums--it is utterly ridiculous. I'm very sensitive and I'll probably cry and then start arguing with you about whether or not whose opinion makes who an overall better person) I think I am in a wierd mood right now.

I think they were targeted for VW's later model headlights. dont'a ask i just connect the VW image to the memory in my bank.Anyway, All i remember is that they weren't hard to find. any site that has "harder to find" bulbs. but don't worry becauseremember...obviously...that the internet is bigger than your

What do you guys think of the HID conversion kit on ebay at http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=1841430280 ?
I think it is too inexpensive to be good. Anyone have any experience with this kit?

dont bother with that junk. Most of the time, if something seems too good to be true...it usually is. True HID kit do not use blue tinted coverings. Instead they are clear and have no filaments. If you look carefully at the bulbs in the pictures, you can see that those are just hi-wattage halogen bulbs (filaments). The blue covering you see over the bulbs filters the lights so that your headlight and output will appear to be white. HIDs use xenon charged arc to produce light and only run at a safe 35W (regular halogens run at 55W). So honestly, I dont know how safe that kit is because it supposedly runs at 150W. Personally I wouldnt risk messing up my car with a cheap upgrade. Either get some name brand halogen bulbs like PIAA or Raybrig.....or invest around $300-400 for a real HID kit. I upgraded to HID a month or so ago and am very very pleased with the output difference. Well worth the money!
