Default no idle

This morning I drove to the coffee shop. When i tried to start my 1990 LS 400 to drive back home, it would not start. I managed to start it by pumping the gas pedal like it was carburated. It would not idle at all. In order to get home I had to keep the RPM`s abve 1200. Yesterday I did hose and clean the engine, if that matters. Anyone had this or a similar problem?

if its the torque converter it would shutter on the highway, or it would stall when you try and put it into drive. Try this: drive straight and pop it into neutral and let it coast in N, if it stalls its most likely the torque converter.
