Default 95 LS400: OBD I or OBD II ?

Hey,

Just wanted to know if my car is OBDI or II, because it's throwing a CEL and I wanna plug in my OBDII reader to check the code, not sure if it would work.

Je veux être populaire aussi bien

although the govt. in the US didnt require OBD2 compliance until 1996, lexus made the '95 at least partially OBD2 compliant when they did the redesign. so while you may not have ALL the SAE parameters available to you, you should be able to use most generic OBD2 parameters and codes for troubleshooting.

Just had my 95 Emissions tested to renew license tags. While the line wasn't long, I couldn't use the OBD line because its for 96+ cars. I had to wait in that little booth while they did the dyna test, oh the indignity!!

As a matter of interest, My November 1994 (1995 model year) LS400 (UCF20) is OBD1. Not all UCF20's are OBD2.

Yeah, we were answering Renato's question regarding his car. US Federal and Canada cars have identical smog certifications and my answer applies to all UCF20s in this market. In Europe, Japan, other parts of the world... a bunch of things are very different.

Need to get in a have a proper look. However I'm pretty sure its a 89661-50250 based on my VIN.

And the fact is is a Singapore import.

What does that tell you?

RE: Thermactor response.

Yeah, I understand differing regions have differing builds. I thought my observation may be "a matter of interest" to those here.
