1999 LS400 knock sensor bank 1?
Okay, so this past weekend I was checking out an LS. Everything was fine and BOOM! Right when I hit the road test driving it, it threw a CEL. No other lights was on such as VSC or SNOW. Just the CEL itself. Went back and plugged in a code reader and found out that it threw a knock sensor bank 1 code. I forgot the exact number of the code, but it did show a knock sensor bank 1 code.
Now, if I pick up this car how much would it be for the sensor to be replaced? Is it hard for a DIY? Help me out guys!

The car has been sitting there for a week plus, so I don't know if that'll be something to know about.
Let me try to meet him up again and see if I can clear the code.
Hypothetically, how hard is it to fix it DIY style?

I am going to pick up the car today and will run the scan myself and see if it clears.
Called stealership and they wanted like 100 an hour for 5 hours. I know I have to remove the intake manifold to get to it and I heard that's really unpleasant.
I hope it isn't something big. I will get the code and post it. I really like this car!

IF you do it yourself make sure it's not the wire harness.which you can get from sewell Lexus for like 50 bucks....the dealer tried to tell me I had to get the complete harness which cost like 1000 bucks.
Also if it is the knock sensor make sure you get the Toyota brand...I tried some from Oreilys and they did not work

You know if i can still drive it safely around for like a month or so? And I droe my friends 98 ls400 and turns out his was much more torquier than mines. Does the knock snsor play a role in that?

There's two knock sensors. Good luck finding the wiring harness. It was unavailable when I changed my knock sensors. Don't use aftermarket knock sensors; they'll throw a knock sensor code. And if you're not throwing a knock sensor code, you might reconsider changing them when you see how much Toyota charges for them.
