Well it is time to sell my car and I am trying to figure out what I should ask for it.

According to KBB and NADA my car is worth somewhere between $5k and 10k.

By the way I have a 99 LS 400 with 190k miles on it. It still runs great. recently replaced the timing belt and water pump.
It has normal paint scratches from being driven on the highways between Alabama and Texas alot.

There are only two things that seem to be wrong with it right now.

-the drivers door power lock actuator doesnt work anymore. it isnt getting power or has just burned up or somthing

-the A/C blower seems to only work if the car was parked in my garage overnight. this is only a fairly recent development.

I am thinking I can easily get around $6k for it because there are some listed at dealers around here for upwards of 9 or 10k with similar miles.

Anyways, the question is this... What do yall think? is $6k too much?

I do not think asking $6,000 is too much. Do you have service records for it? That will help you build the cars value.

How about AutoCheck records? Any accidents?

with service records that car is worth about 7-8k here in cali, w/o it's a crap shoot as with that many miles you should have had the TB/WP done twice.

I dont really have service records for anything before I got it from my dad about 3 years ago. I havent done any sort of autochecker or anything on it. To my knowledge it doesnt have any accidents on it (I know that doesnt mean much).

I am planing on running it by carmax today after work just to see what they would give me for it.

You can check to see if your Dad had any of maintenance items completed at the dealership.

Just sign up for an account and you should be able to look up maintenance records, under the VIN, from Lexus dealers.

carmax offered me $4k for it and I plan on taking them up on it. the A/c Blower stopped working completely this weekend so i need to get out of this car quickly.

I know i could get more if i sold it myself, but i dont feel like dealing with the hassle etc.
