Default Brake pad installation mistake. Caliper issue 95 LS

So i was changing out the pads on my 95 ls400. Well i finished the back and thought i installed the front pads too. but i pushed the brake pedal to check the brakes while i still had the car up and then realized i hadn't installed the front pads . Now i tried pushing back the pistons but the bottom inner pistons on both sides will not budge. Did i ruin my calipers? :cries: How do i bleed the LS?

I tried searching but I'm panicking.

I normally dont make such stupid mistakes. I was rushing because this was my first day off in a while and i wanted to get it done before it rained (its raining right now).

Please help guys.

nah u didnt ruin them. if u could somehow stick the old pads in there and then take a strong screwdriver to push the pistons back then u should be fine..but if u want to bleed them then follow the lexls tutorial as it applies to the same thing.

Large channel lock pliers (and perhaps some pieces of wood) are also good for pushing pistons back. With the LS, it's kind of a game of whack-a-mole because there are so many pistons and when you push one in, the other comes back out. But if you work at it, you should be fine.

Probably won't need to bleed.

I assume you have a big c-Clamp? put the old pad in and crank that clamp until they compress, unless the pistons popped right out of the seals you should be able to recompress them, they just might be stiff.

Best of luck!

open the bleed port on the caliper then use some channel locks and an old pad to push the pistons back in. remember to top off the brake fluid then.

PD was right! THANKS! . My mechanic buddy came over and taught me how to do it!

Thanks for not ripping me a new one guys! I've got to be more careful.

I'm going to get an alldata account and download everything on my 95.

off-topic but i love the '95+ 4-piston calipers so much, they make me so happy

all i have to do is look at my car's wheel well to know that i truly made it in life; i have most definitely arrived.
