Default Cold Air Intake

You know like there are no intakes for our cars. There are filters and adapters but they only make noise and don't give you any power.

Now for around $200 the actual CAI system could be made that will give minimum of 5 hp (probably more). How many people would be interested.

The price will vary if you want the piping chromed or powdercoated.

WTF. I just asked this question last week.

I'm gettin frustrated with the fact that I want to add stuff to my car, but it's like throwing food at a dead horse. Or an expensive picky horse.

I *REALLY* want to move to 1995 LS and start modding, but I still owe $7,000 on my 90 LS and It's not getting paid off any time soon. So adding mods is a waste of time.

Just venting everyone, a little pissed right now.

I WOULD be interested in a real intake, not just a filter, but money and a crappy year LS prohibits that.

No more mods for me.

You think there are more mods for 95? Same thing.

Here is the deal. If I get more then 5 people who definetely want to get a CAI, then it's worth to prototype it and bring the pics. No one is goint to do anything for our cars if there is not enough interest.

ALong with this subject, retro why are you so interested in fixing up your 91 when the 93+ had a billion improvements?

At least you can roll up your windows after the key is out ;-)

What is the difference when I can have such feature on alarm. '90-94 are all the same in my eyes

So what kind of interest is there with intakes?

I understand aethetics are a concern, but really, it's under the hood, and it can be chromed as retro said.

Also I think he mentioned that there needs to be real interests beofre a prototype can be developed and have pictures of it.

Somethin like that..

Rod Millen sells just a filter and adapter (hot air intake) for about $225 and that one just makes noise and probably deceases power? I am just wondering if you would buy a Cold Air Intake that gives you 5hp and up for $200. Before making a prototype, I need to see some real interest in the product.

On the intake dyno tests for the GS, the Injen is doing very well even without any ECU modification. Ethan is going to dyno the Injen shortly with the Apexi SAFC to see what it does. Right now, it appears to be the best without ECU and the quietest to boot. Only reason I mention it is because when I look at the part numbers, Injen says they have intake for the LS going back to 92 if I remember correctly. Maybe you guys should check into them for your LS rather than just a drop in filter.

retrodrive - If I do this right

http://www.wholesalehyperformance.com/

is the link to the site where I found the info. I have never bought anything from these guys so I can't vouch for them. Just looking for Injen intake info and found them.

Well, I don't mean to turn people off form the idea, but there are some possible issues with any engine and intakes.

I found a link on this page under the intake section to a site where a guy with a BMW brought up the issue of aftermarket intakes increasing dust flow into the engine. He reported almost a 200% increase of dirt passing through aftermarket filters (K&N especially) comapared to stock.

http://www.seansa4page.com/resource/airfilter.html

It's an interesting read, and it may make some of you think twice about aftermarket filters. Maybe there are counter arguments to this point.

I'd buy it if the price is good.
