Attempting to reduce more road noise
Alright fellas I have a 1990 and I will be trying to make the cabin even more quieter than it already is. I searched but only seen sound deadening info for car audio and it was not very specific. My question is has anyone ever tried this on a 1990? Are there areas that I should focus on more than others? I am planning on removing all the interior and dashboard as well. Right now I am guessing the firewall would need more attention and maybe the tranny tunnel, but wont know until all the interior is removed. Any feedback would be appreciated thanks.

Add some over the tire wells as well. You can add some to the roof too. It all helps.
here's a website to help you understand what to use where (if you don't know already) : http://www.sounddeadenershowdown.com/cgi-bin/index.cgi

make sure you use the right stuff.. you don't want to use dynamat type stuff to kill road noise. I'd suggest going to www.sounddeadenershowdown.com and www.secondskin.com do your research and buy your products. The owners of both companies are more than willing to talk to you as well...

Perfect. I hope it doesn't end up costing an arm and a leg. I just turned 30 yrs old and am getting more **** about road noise and interior rattling noise. I plan on tightening all loose screws and stopping all the little noises from miscellaneous interior pieces as well.I know this car is 20 yrs old but I love it.

I'm useing something called Noxudol 3100 in the tire wells and I'm very pleased with it. It really do reduce road noise. For more information see http://www.noxudolusa.com/sound_damp..._products.html

In the second gen, the rear wheel wells are not well insulated. I put a closed cell foam there, part way up the rear pillars, top shelf and on the floor under the seat, any remaining remnants also in the trunk. The stuff I used is thin so attenuation was minimal though it did help some. Was very easy to apply and conformed well to the compound curves.

JAndersson how much did you apply of the noxudol? It shows a 1 gallon purchase on the website. Is that what you bought?
I'm contemplating the paint type stuff as well because it seems to be able to fill the fender wells nicely. How is the smell? If any.
I wanna do this right the first time because removing all the interior is gonna be a PITA.

I hate to be an ***, but the quality of your tires has a huge impact on road noise. Cheap tires (and worn out expensive tires) will be very loud compared to a quality tire with plenty of tread left.
