Bingo, So I know a decent ammount about automotive stuff at least the HD automotive side. I was looking for something deeper about this engine. I bought the car b.c I know it's good for that many miles.

7 schultz how true this next statment is I don't know but I was told the lexus engine is so good it can be put in to an expermental home made airplane and it's the only or maybe 2nd only one that is approved by the FAA for aircraft I was told it is the only one. They now use the LS400 motor in racing boats and hardly ever see one blow up and they run at 7000 RPM all day in races how is that for a great built motor

main thing with the 1st gen ls motor is toyota over engineered it as they were trying to make a statement in the luxury car market, and make a statement they did. if you notice, all newer gen 1uz's have thinner rods and weaker pistons. higher compression and more power yes, but the strength went down alot after the first gen. thats why i wanted a 1st gen, preferably a 93-94. im addicted to boost so a turbo setup on this car is inevitable for me. im going to try my hardest to leave it stock, but we shall see how long that lasts. lol. i can say that the uz is by far the smoothest v8 ive ever seen in any car. even drove my ex's dads tundra with the 2uz. that thing would MOVE!. i was very surprised considering how big the truck was. the 1uz runs as smooth and balanced as the straight 6's in my supras.

What mods do they do to the motors to let them run at 7K all day, anything?
Or can it do that on stock.

Isn't the 95 a 2nd gen motor I once saw a pic with a row of pistons rods and it show the decline of size over the gens. How much weaker is the 2nd gen than the 1st gen?

I saw a guy selling his 90' LS400 on Craigslist about a year ago with 500k on the clock, original motor and trans he claimed. I'm at 250ish, and it just got a freshen up, but I would assume I would get more than 50k miles out of these bearings, rings, etc. If not, it isn't very difficult to find a used motor and build that one up for the cheap while the other one is still in running condition. I used to run synthetic oil before I started working in the industry, now I just buy the cheapest 5w30 I can find, and change the filter every 3k, haven't had a lick of oil problem on anyone of our 7 cars. I always thought that if the vehicle didn't come with the synthetic oil, what's the benefit to putting it in at 150k?
