rear clunk when brakes release

rear clunk when brakes release
couldn't find anything searching. i get a clear "clunk" when i stop, just as the brakes release. brakes work fine and are pretty recently redone, so i don't think it is the brakes. this happened before, but with the front end so worn, it wasn't the first priority, at 235k. has nothing to do with going over bumps or aropund coprners. i just did the front end so i know its not coming from there. what are main things to look for?

Could be the bushings that Jim stated above, but also it could be coming from the differential. That bushing is often overlooked and can also cause a clunk. I have that problem as well, sometimes when I let off the brakes to accelerate, sometimes when I put it in gear, and even when I go from a rolling start to full pedal down I will hear it. I had my car put in the air and put into gear, and I could actually see the diferential move. I have the bushing but now neew to change it, and from what I know so far requires the dropping of the diff to do so. The bushings that Jim described above, I had already changed out as part of my bushings update. Check there as well. Try to give as much info about the problem as you can.
