Default Dome / foot lights out. integration relay?

Hey guys,

been searching for the last hour and tearing my hair out. here is the problem.

installing puddle lights, i wanted to wire them into the courtesy light circuit. i had the globe out of one of the footwell lights, so i just poked the +ve wire from the puddle light into the socket, and the -ve wire from the puddle light i grounded to a bit of metal, just to see if they would light up.

they lit up fine. and i carried on.

but now my dome light and footwell lights and key/ignition light don't light up!

have checked and replace the dome light fuse.

have checked for power, all are showing +12V which is expected given then negative switching wiring.

all searches have pointed to 'integration relay' but i did the test described here, and the symptoms don't match mine suggesting it's not the relay, but who knows if this test is sound?

I know you are looking for someone to tell you were the break in the wiring is and I don't know but in case no one comes up with the info I will give my 2 cents,as you can see in the manual if you would pull the interior bulb and check for 12 volts on one side of the interior bulb holder and it is not there you can guess that the 12 volts is missing from the integration relay as this is tied to the same 12 volts though the two fuses. Then if the 12 volts is there, I would put the bulb back in and ground the other side of the bulb that did not have the 12 volt feed and see if the bulb lights, if the bulb lights you can be pretty sure it is the integration relay. This may not make sense at first but if you look at all the lighting circuits the odds are against other circuits causing the problem, and it sure beats digging around under the dash. Good Luck and let us know.

i'd really like some help here as it is doing my head in. i planned to get the puddles wired up and done in a few hours, but it's now lunch time on a sunday and i've got wires everywhere and my car is worse off for it! i have searched but everyone seems to suggest the problem, but then the person with the problem never comes back to say how they fixed it - it's so annoying! help!!
