Default 95-97 Key Fob Question????

Hey guys, I was had a question on if the key fob from a 98 GS will work with our LS. I still have my old key from my GS with the Fob built in to the key. Can this be programmed to work with the LS? I can buy a uncut key from EBay with just the housing and add the Fob part from the old GS but will this be able to be programmed to the 95-97 LS? I called Sewell Lexus about this and they said they did not know if it would work or not but would try it for me. They also said it will cost me $89 to have it reprogrammed but no way to know if it would work unless we try it, I really don’t want to spend $89 bucks to see if it works and then have it not be compatible. Thanks in advance!

That I'm aware, the SC shared the same transmitter. Compare the FCC ID code on the back of the two...if they match, you are

Hmm. I didn't even know the 95-97 LS has a remote control. Bought mine used and it came with an aftermarket regular key, so I didn't know anything about it. And I also has the key with remote option from my 98 LS, would like to use it on this car. Anyone knows how to program these key fobs?

95-97 don't even use the same remotes because '97 has an immobilizer and 95-96 do NOT.

theoretically, it COULD be done, but not w/o changing the alarm ecus. afaik you will NOT be able to find a 98-00 remote with the right FCC ID and just program it work on your standard 95-96 ECU.

97 will not work at all iirc due to the immobilizer.

lol, darn it. Never mind then. Thanks for the answer. I've been trying to program it to my car whole morning hoping I would get lucky, lol. I guess an aftermarket alarm will do fine, both acting as a keyless entry and security system.

The FCC ID on my FOB is: HYQWDT-C

I was under the impression the above remote is compatible for the 95-97 SC300/400 and the LS400's. It's been a spell so I am vague on the details. The integrated key-remote is different so it will not work.
